Enjoy-a-Ball Classes

We want every child to have the skills, confidence and motivation to be active and healthy.

Enjoy-a-Ball classes are action-packed, fun-filled weekly sports coaching sessions, designed to nurture and develop your child’s abilities, confidence and fitness.
Our younger Enjoy-a-Ballers learn fundamental movement skills as part of their journey to becoming physically literate. Things like throwing, catching, kicking, jumping and running super-fast (to name just a few). These skills are very important as they are the “building blocks” or foundation for more complex and specialised skills.
Older Enjoy-a-Ballers build on this solid foundation and those fundamental skills are progressed and shaped into sport specific skills, which will give them the confidence to enjoy a range of activities and sport when they graduate from Enjoy‑a‑Ball.
As an added benefit, Enjoy-a-Ballers learn valuable life skills (social skills) which will be very helpful when they go out into the world as teenagers and young adults.

Stage 1 (Age 3 to 4) Bee Bops

Bee Bops lessons are designed to encourage children to do fun stuff like running, jumping, catching / striking and kicking a ball by teaching them the “building blocks” of movement. The sessions are taught with loads of creativity, so that our Bee Boppers never even get a sneaky suspicion that they are actually learning and not just having fun!

What they will be doing:

Activities that develop:

  • Movement skills (children are likely to develop movement skills in a progressive order, learning simple before more complex skills. As an example: walking and hopping are simple movement patterns and combine to create skipping.)

  • Balance

  • Co-ordination (Eye – foot / hand)

  • Strength

  • Agility (Dodging & weaving)

  • Speed

Life skills:

  • Independence

  • Social interaction

Bee Bops – Level 1

  • Ages: 3 – 3½
  • 45-minute classes
  • 12 children per class

Bee Bops – Level 2

  • Ages: 3½ – 4
  • 1 hour classes
  • 12 children per class

Stage 2 (Age 4 to 6) Play Ball

What a difference a year makes! From around age 4 kids are more than ready to move it up a gear in the ongoing development of their physical skills. By expanding on the fundamentals of movement and developing a positive attitude to being active and playing sport, your child will gain the skills, experience and attitudes which will set the stage for them to take part in games and sport throughout their lives. We are teaching them the joy of being active and moving.

What they will be doing:

Physical skills:

Progressing (Don’t you just love to see progress!) from simple to complex movement skills by adding new aspects, for example; changes in speed and direction:

  • Running

  • Hopping

  • Dodging

  • Jumping

  • Skipping

Object control skills are moved on to the next level by adding variations to:

  • Bouncing

  • Throwing

  • Catching

  • Kicking

  • Striking

Stability skills are pushed and expanded.

  • Balance: From static through to dynamic balance (balance combined with movement)

  • Landing

  • Rotation

Now for the cherry on top of the cake; with lots of opportunities to catch, intercept and hit a wide range of objects, your child becomes very good at “reading” what is going on around them.

  • Prediction – Where is the ball coming from? Where is it going?

  • Interception – Moving to a place where you can catch / hit the ball.

Life skills:

We love to add to our collection of life skills and our Enjoy-a-Ballers are gaining skills without even realising. We are working very hard on:

  • Persistence

  • Courage

  • Co-operation

  • Decision making

Play Ball – Level 1

  • Ages: 4 – 5
  • 1 hour classes
  • 12 children per class

Play Ball – Level 2

  • Ages: 5 – 6
  • 1 hour classes
  • 12 children per class

Stage 3 (Age 6 to 9) Champs

Your child has done the work and has built a super strong foundation of physical abilities.
* Our Champs learn sport specific skills and techniques as well as the basic rules of ten ball sports.
These are:

  • Basketball

  • Baseball

  • Football

  • Hockey

  • Volleyball

  • Tennis

  • Rugby

  • Cricket

  • Handball

  • Dodgeball

Even if your child has not been part of our initial program they can still join us. Our amazing coaches and small class sizes mean that they can be brought up to speed very quickly.

What they will be doing:

Physical skills:

Champs rotate through the 10 different sports on a weekly basis, playing matches and fine tuning skills.
The Champs stage is excellent for further development and enhancement of spatial perception within the environment of an actual match or game – it becomes easier to judge how hard or soft to kick / throw a ball to a team mate, how far does the ball need to travel and also in which direction? With practice these skills become more natural and not something to “think about”.

Life skills:

Champs are constantly adding to their repertoire of life skills.

Champs – Level 1

  • Ages: 6 – 8
  • 1 hour classes
  • 12 children per class

Champs – Level 2

  • Ages: 8 – 9
  • 1 hour classes
  • 12 children per class
